United States – Florida – Santa Fe River Valley Region

 

            Thankfully there have been no incidents reported in the Santa Fe River Valley area this quarter, and it has been relatively quiet for the amount of cave divers who have been frequenting the caves in the area.

 

We would like to thank Larry Green and Richard Hicks, who have started replacing the gold line in Little River. At this point, the gold line has been replaced from just past the Last Room on out to the Florida Room, with more relining to be done in the near future.

 

As for the caves in the area, the gold line at Devil’s is still running along the floor and starts at the warning sign just inside the Ear. Hart Springs is open for diving again, please contact a guide if you wish to dive this remarkably pristine system. Also, please make note that the downstream tunnel of Mill Creek Sink has been closed until further notice, due to the ongoing Walmart construction issues. We still are waiting to hear from the state about the sign replacement at Manatee and as soon as that happens, I will report further on the issue.

 

We would also like to thank all the volunteers who showed up to help out at the Ginnie Springs Appreciation Party at the end of April.
